Woodpecker Lodge in Honing an equal distance between the market towns of North Walsham and Stalham  on the northern tip of the Norfolk Broads, offering first class disabled friendly accommodation in beautiful surroundings all year round.

The downstairs accommodation comprises a smart open planned kitchen diner and living area, entrance hall, large double bedroom and a wet room which is disabled friendly. Upstairs there is double bedroom with views over farmland, twin bedroom, spacious landing and bathroom.

What To Do

Visit the numerous villages and Towns around Norfolk and enjoy local crafts and quaint shops. Many towns are host to Farmers Markets and delight in the sumptuous taste of locally produced food and drink. Take a well-earned break and stop off at one of the many rural pubs/restaurants and try out the local ales and home cooked food.

Fishing lakes at Dilham Fishery and The Old Stables Fishing Lake at North Walsham are two of many angling opportunities located nearby.

The local area contains quiet lanes ideal for cycling and nearby are Bacton Woods with 3 marked trails ranging from 2 to 4 kilometres making an excellent place for all types of orienteering, walking, horse riding and cycling. Weavers Way, a long distance footpath, runs from Cromer to Great Yarmouth and passes through the village of Honing.

Norwich satisfies even the most sophisticated shopper so whatever your style, taste or pocket you will have great fun discovering the mix this exciting city has to offer..

Norfolk has something for all ages and interests, historic buildings, wildlife parks, military museums or working steam railways. An action packed day out for the kids, be it wet or dry, is assured in Norfolk's theme attractions. Fascinating experiences are offered at crafts centres and stately homes.

What a lovely property Woodpecker Lodge is, it has everything you could possibly need was clean and very comfortable. We were made very welcome by Martin and Jackie. Would recommend to anyone.

It is very rural and ideal to get away from it all, but you do need a car to get about to places. However, it is ideally positioned to visit the many surrounding areas.

Property was as described on website. Very clean and everything immaculate on arrival, lovely complimentary welcome basket of fresh breakfast goodies on arrival. Host was very welcoming and accommodating. Our only issue was initially finding the property, however the host had already given us contact number had we required to contact him for directions. Ideal base for visiting the local area.

Great place to stay. Plenty of room and doggy friendly. Be aware that garden has an escape route for more adventurous dogs! Welcome pack of freshly baked bread, milk, butter, eggs and wine was a nice touch. Wonderful area to explore. Great walks, dog friendly beaches are just beautiful. Loved Cromer and Great Yarmouth. Recommend a day boat hire from Wroxham to see the broads.

My husband, brother and I took my disabled mother to Woodpecker Lodge for a weeks holiday. The house was absolutely perfect for a disabled person and meant my mother had no worries at all about being away from home. We enjoyed day trips to Holt, Blakeney, Norwich, Cromer and Southwold. The house was in a perfect position to visit the whole area. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The house was very well equipped and perfectly clean. A wonderful place to stay.

Fantastic place to stay

This is our second visit to Woodpecker Lodge, it is simple fantastic. Everything is catered for, the lodge is finished to a very high standard and is spotlessly clean. They're some lovely walks around Honing, and Walcott beech is only 10 minutes drive away. Couldn't recommend this place enough if your looking for somewhere to stay in Norfolk don't look anywhere else this is THE place to stay.

Great location for the Coast and Broads, loads to see and do in the area, lots of walks from the doorstep. The Lodge was excellent, had a family member in a wheelchair and it was so easy for her to get around the property and even into the garden. Martin was very friendly and helpful and thank you for our welcome pack, will definitely be back.....

An absolutely immaculate and extremely well presented property in a peaceful and accessible location. Upon arriving we were greeted by the owners who were very welcoming and had clearly gone above and beyond to ensure of their guests, including extra cleaning, extra towels along with anti bacterial in bathrooms / kitchen and also at the main entrance. What wasn’t mentioned was the wonderful welcome pack of wine, fresh homemade bread, eggs and marmalade, a great touch. The house was excellent! 2 large twin rooms and a very large downstairs double, a private garden in a lovely setting where many meals were taken along with a very comfortable living room area and well equipped kitchen. Would recommend without hesitation!

A very homely holiday home, set in Honing, which is a great location to access the NE Norfolk beaches & the Norfolk Broads.

The property was very clean & well-maintained and had a BBQ, which was used a couple of times!

The owners were very welcoming & made sure we had all we needed & that there were no issues whilst we stayed there.
