Marsh Cottage

Marsh Cottage is a unique little pet friendly cottage adjacent to marshes bordering the River Yare at the end of a 1/2 mile track. It is in the perfect location for those wanting to relax and unwind throughout the year.

The village of Surlingham is situated around 6 miles from Norwich on the south bank of the River Yare between Bramerton and Rockland St Mary.

Once the home of the Marshman who tended to the cattle grazing on the marshes it is a peaceful romantic hideaway that retains it's rustic charm with original brick floors and wood burning stove, comfortably sleep two people, but can take an extra person if required.

The network of quiet lanes and extensive riverside footpaths (including Surlingham RSPB Reserve,Ted Ellis Reserve and the Wherryman’s way) make it the ideal spot for walking, cycling, fishing (with licence), bird watching, or just cosy nights in front of the fire on a winter's evening.

A motor launch can be hired locally to explore the expanse of Norfolk Broad Waterways, plentiful with wildlife and ample opportunity to visit the many riverside inns. Nearest pub 10 minute walk! You cannot fail to be enchanted by all that Marsh Cottage and the surrounding area has to offer with nature well and truly on your doorstep.

We now have a Canadian canoe that you are welcome to borrow during your stay. It is kept a 10 minute walk from the cottage. It's a terrific experience canoeing through the wonderful small waterways leading on to Surlingham Broad and the River Yare. It's real swallows and amazons stuff!!

There is parking in a grass courtyard adjacent to the cottage. The courtyard can be locked. Outside: FULLY ENCLOSED fenced garden perfect for those bring a dog. Patio area surrounded by lavender with wooden round table and chairs. Bbq and picnic table on higher ground with fantastic views of surrounding fields and marshes.Two wooden sun loungers. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaned prior to every new arrival. Clean sheets and towels and tea towels provided at the start of every stay. In fact everything you need to enjoy a relaxing break.

Please bring beach towels and dog beds/dog towels if bringing your pet. Other: There is a lockable outbuilding for bikes/canoes etc. Mooring for a boat on the River Yare can be arranged in walking distance from the cottage.
