Canoeing in The Broads National Park is an ideal way of experiencing the local wildlife in their natural habit. Paddling up the rivers and enjoying the peace and quiet of beautiful landscape from the river level is good for the soul.
There are several hire centres offering canoes and kayaks for hire by the hour. A Canadian Canoe holds up to 3 people; are very stable, easy to paddle and steer and great fun for novices and children under supervision. The hire centres can advise on river routes and suitability of routes from beginners to experts, stop off points and provide general guidance on river safety. It is advisable to ALWAYS WEAR A LIFE JACKET and be aware that the Norfolk Broads are tidal and due care should be taken. Headwaters are rewarding for Novices whilst heading towards the lower reaches of the Broads would suit the more experienced canoeist, dealing with tides.
There are also guided canoe trails through the Broads to accompany those less adventurous to explore these waters with expert local knowledge and a variety of trails, from hour long excursions to half and full days canoeing on the rivers of the Norfolk Broads.
